Hello, one week ago my car was clamped very early in the morning and luckily I had a chance to speak to the guy who was clumping it. As he explained to me I have an unpaid parking ticket (april 2011) and I have to pay £750 to JBW Group Bailiffs Company. I was completely shocked.
Basically whats happened is that when I moved to my current address I didn’t change my address at DVLA; that is why I was not receiving any letter with the parking fine and any letter from bailiffs.
Later in the same day, after a quick conversation with the bailiff we have agreed that I will get my car back unclamped and pay the whole £750 in one month time.
Could anyone advise me what should I do in this case?
Many thanks for any help or advice.

    Hi Woodman,

    Happy New Year!

As regards your parking fine and the bailiffs there are two excellent guides here which are worth a read:

    and

Parking Fine Guide - Legal Beagles Consumer Forum

I would also be inclined to send JBW the following letter, as bailiffs are not known for their integrity and have a habit of grossly inflating fees:

    (With thanks to Ploddertom)
    Ref: Account No: 123456

    Dear Sir

With reference to the above account, Can you please provide me with a breakdown of the charges.

    This includes:
a - the time & date of any Bailiff action that incurred a Fee.
b - the reason for the fee.
c - the name(s) of the Bailiff(s) that attended on each occasion a Fee was charged.
    d - the name(s) of the Court(s) the Bailiff(s) was/were Certificated at.
e - the date of the Certification.

This is not a Subject Access Request under the Data Protection Act S7 1998 so does not incur a fee of £10. You are obliged to provide this information.

I require this information within 14 days.
