Hi all,
I'm fairly new here so I do apologise if I have this in the wrong section. Mods, please feel free to move.
I had a 0% Credit Card through Halifax which I settled in August of last year as it had just come to the end of the interest free period. Balance was approx. £3500 and as mentioned, I settled it in full.
Cut the card up, never used it again and thought no more about it. Fast forward to January and something made me log on to my online banking, only to find that there was an interest charge of £6 that had been added in September, and that I hadn't paid it. I immediately rang them, and they agreed to wipe the charge without question and now the card sits at 57p in credit.
Fast forward again to May and our Mortgage deal is up for renewal. Mortgage broker applies for a mortgage with Halifax and sure enough we get knocked back due to my now poor credit rating with Experian.
We appealed, fought it and sent them a letter explaining the above and have now been accepted for the mortgage.
I'm due to change my car soon and also sort another mortgage that is coming to the end of it's deal on a buy-to-let, but would like to investigate removing the poor credit mark now on my file.
Is there anything that can be done to sort this? Is it a case of just ringing them and asking to reverse the negatives? Or is there a process I should follow?
Looking forward to your responses
Jon
