  • Claiming compensation for loss after a vehicle theft

looking for some advice regarding possible compensation after having a car stolen.
the car was stored on private land with no mot tax insurance so I cant claim on any insurance,it isnt an open area quite tucked away actually
    behind some private flats.
The car wasn't worth much £500 but its a lot to me. Ive reported it to the police and got a crime number, but Im not holding out any hope of seeing it again, its probably been stripped for parts anyway.
Can I go about claiming compensation for losses incurred as a result of criminal actions

    Many thanks

    Claim from whom?
Do you have a storage contract with the land owner?

Claim from the state as a victim of crime.I know those responsible can be made to pay for the losses.
      No storage contract

I doubt you'd get very far as there was no insurance or storage contract ... maybe others will have a 'better' idea tho' xx

Those responsible can only be made to pay if you can identify them, and then can show they were responsible.
Then they can only be made to pay if they have an income or assets

And as for the state paying.... not a hope.
Even victims of violent crimes can't obtain anything from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (ask my daughter and son in law)

              Good luck then.
Did you inform the police a tracker was installed?
I would advise against confronting the thieves in person if you track them down, and if you do track the car down how could you recover it seeing it has no tax etc?
              Leave it to the police.
