  • Late VT Bill

Hi, I VT'd my car with the finance company in March this year. At pickup the inspection company noted a few things but didn't make any statements on whether any excess wear and tear payments would be required.

In my email from the finance company to confirm the VT they stated:
"After the vehicle has been collected we will write to you 6-8 weeks later to confirm if there’s any outstanding liabilities such as damages or excess mileage (if applicable). In the meantime, please cancel your direct debit today for good measure."

After 8 weeks I hadn't heard anything therefore assumed there was no additional charges. Now, sixteen weeks later I receive a bill for about £450!

Can anyone advise if there is any time limit on the finance company issuing these bills for charges?

Thanks in advance for your advice!
