  • Bank Holidays

    Hi,

I work Tuesday to Friday and as such as I don't work on Mondays I do not get paid for Bank Holidays which fall on a Monday according to my company.

I am entitled to 20 days holiday a year. Am I suppose to get paid for the Bank Holidays that fall on a Monday or not.

    Any advice is much appreciated.

      Re: Bank Holidays

If you work 4 days per week then your Holiday Entitlement is 22.4 days per year - taken from https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-holiday-entitlement

      The employer:
      • can include bank and public holidays as part of the statutory entitlement
      • must not round down the holiday entitlement, but may round it up
      • must provide holiday pay during the statutory leave
      • can provide more paid holiday - this will be in the employment contract and is called ‘contractual leave entitlement’

As for whether you should be paid for Bank Holidays that fall on a Monday then the answer is no - unless you happen to work one that is.

        Re: Bank Holidays

I am guessing it will depend on your contract
I remember, and to be honest the people concerned are probably retired now, but we had people on a 4 day contract Tues-Friday but they were given an extra day in lieu of bank holidays . They were on really old contracts and the Union was USDAW
