  • Purchased freehold to my property

In mid December 2016 I purchased the freehold to my property (house). I am trying to establish how long it should take fort this freehold to be registered with Land Registry. I have "chased" this with the solicitor I used. However, the reply I got was "there is no problem, its just Land Registry are behind with their work".

I should be extremely grateful if anyone with experience with this sort of issue could give me any guidance.

Hi, I would think the easiest way to put your mind at rest would be to give the Land Registry a call contact details HERE
At least you will have it from the horses mouth if there are delays.
I changed some details a few weeks ago and it only took a matter of days but your case will probably be more complex.

Hi Tiswas, I would expect up to 6 months at least for the Land Registry to update it, that's based on work I've done however it may be faster and could be done in 6 weeks.

          Hi Tiswas,
HMLR will take a lot longer to change the title leasehold to freehold than they would to transfer the property to another name as with Enaid's situation. ROb is right, it can really take an age, several months even. It may be worth contacting HMLR as Enaid suggested, just to check they have actually received the application to amend the register.
Don't panic though, it will happen eventually.
