  • Housing association negligence of asbestos

    Hello,

    Hope all is well.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
I Was told my kitchen would be redone this month but received a phone call stating I have asbestos on a panel behind my boiler which seemed really odd as HA only changed our boiler two years ago :-/ I didn't think much of it as we had HA come over for a asbestos check about the same time as our new boiler which was normal and no sign of any asbestos was mentioned or found, HA urgently sent someone over straight away to have a look, who basically said that it wasn't behind the boiler it was behind the washing machine :-/ he also wasn't sure if it was asbestos but it looked like it might be but samples need to be taken to make sure, but it's basically safe because it has not been disturbed 😳He had a report on him that stated we had a asbestos inspection on a date that we had people come over to let us pick the style of our new kitchen. We had no idea that it was also a check for asbestos not only a check but an inspection??? We was not informed at all!! The houses were built around 25 years ago, we are the first tenants. My questions are....Why has it taken HA this long to come over and inspect this? Why have we not been informed of the asbestos? If it has been there that long Who is to say it has not been disturbed? Who's to say our health issues have not been due to asbestos? Who's to say we haven't got more asbestos in the building without being informed? It's very odd as only selected houses in the area are having new kitchens...... it would be great to get some input on this.

    Thank you
