• Medical negligence or not?

Hi I went into hospital as an emergency, I had been waiting for a gallbladder op but had been admitted to the hospital 3 times in the previous 8 mths. I had with me a letter from my gp to take stating I had Pneumonia symptoms and a question mark. To cut a long story short they operated and couldn't do keyhole due to complications.I was down in theatre and recovery for 13 hour's! .they couldn't stabilise me which resulted in me being rushed into intensive care and on a life support in a coma. I had double lung failure due to me being operated on when I had Pleural Pneumonia! Has anyone got any advice on what I should do about it please. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks Jacqui x

So if they had not operated then would your relatives have been planning the funeral? Perhaps they did what they had to do to save your life. What would have been the result of no intervention?

As ostell asks "what would have been the result of no op?"

What was the emergency?
Was it life threatening?
Could it have been managed in any other manner?
In the opinion of other doctors/surgeons was the situation handled as they would have handled it?

Clinical negligence claims are complex and complicated, and if you feel you have a case you should be contacting a specialist solicitor.

Hi,I was in the hospital for 4 days before they operated so I wouldn't say that it was life threatening would you? .perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough. They obviously didn't do enough checks I feel as I repeated to them on numerous occasions that I had the same symptoms as I had before when I had pneumonia! Not only that but I had a letter from my gp saying symptoms Pneumonia?.AS I said I was in there for 4 day's before they operated on my Gallbladder? Thanks

Sorry I didn't say that when I'd been admitted to hospital for Pneumonia and not for my Gallbladder!

Before you start down the court claim process you may like to reas this https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/he...-legal-action/

If you intend to pursue the matter further you could complain http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/complai...omplaints.aspx or contact your local Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) in the hospital concerned, before engaging the services of a solicitor.
