Looking for any advice on what further steps we may be able to take to recover our missing saluki (the cream in my avatar)

Last Tuesday let the pair into the garden at 8.15am, but by 9.00am they had both gone, having cleared an 8 foot fence.
The red boy came back about an hour later, but we haven't seen the cream since.
Have put up posters, informed local dog warden, vets, kennels, inserted ads in newspapers.
Face book has come out in a rash of postings, and shareds (courtesy of my children and tesco community page!)

    Very concerned on a number of fronts;
    1. his welfare as he will be frightened, cold, wet, miserable (if he has not been picked up)
    2. If he has been picked up if it's by the travelling community he'll be very valuable to them as a stud
    3. if he is wandering loose, it is the lambing season. (we have warned local farmers but by now he could be miles away)
    4. his brother is pining (and so are we!)

Any suggestions on what else we can do appreciated

I can't think of anything you're not already doing. Although I'd be looking regularly in the areas that you usually walk him too if you're not already.

    Hope you find him soon.

This might give you a bit of hope http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...er+missing+dog

        Re: missing dog

Just about to go out again with his brother (even the rugby is taking a back seat).

They are chipped, but we know from other saluki owners that those who fall into travellers clutches can have them cut out!

        Thanks anyway, and here's hoping.

Awww yes travellers have a thing with Lurchers, I have never gone into to the whys and wherefores cause I hate how they treat animals on the whole and even if it's only for hunting hares etc I still feel sick at the thought.

I can't add anything helpful beyond what's been said, but I would like to express my very genuine sympathy and indeed empathy to you.

Have you considered offering a reward for information?

                      Des

Take some clothing and/or blanket with familiar smells on his brothers/yours etc and loosely hide his favourite food/treat or toy in to the area he knows well and check often and call his name

because my guess is if he's not been picked up yet ( by dog warden etc ) he will make his way there but because he is frightened cold and hungry he will may well be hiding and come out when it's quite and he feel safe

                      best of luck

                        Re: missing dog

We have left food and bedding out for him in hope.

A friend has just suggested we approach the local techparc where they test fly the watchkeeper drone and ask them to do a search using infra red and high definition cameras!
Be good PR for them, especially as I have some history with them, but I might just try for it!

                              Update:
Following discussions with police, and receipt of info regarding a possible sighting, the police have now logged the incident as theft of Ashar.
So he could now be anywhere in the country with travellers
