I have received a letter from Capital Resolve it's a bit unclear saying my address was passed to them via a credit reference agency through their name and date of birth matching service .it does not address me by my full name no title just my dear then surname then asking me to contact them on or before the 17th January 2017 , I have no idea what debt they are on about I have never ever been in debt this has shocked me and scared me I have no intention of responding as I owe no one I live in Scotland any advice would be much appreciated as I am worried they come to my door and get obnoxious.

Have you checked your credit score to see if anything is out of order?
Sounds to me like a DCA Phishing letter and a basic one at that.

I thank you for your advice I did try to find out my credit rating I looked into 2 companies both wanted 2 numbers from my sort code and numbers from my bank card given the amount of scammers out there I am reluctant to give any information. Is this normap practice for these credit rating companies to want this informstion ?.As I said I know I do not owe anyone any money this letter never mentioned an amount or what company that passed it on to them as you say sounds like a phishing letter so fingers crossed I don't hear from them again if I do again I will ignore .thanks again for advice

It's the correct procedure to require confirmation of an individuals identity, the credit reference agencies have obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 to ensure that any data they supply is going to the correct data subject Noddle and Call Credit are free online subsidiaries of the major CRA's.

          It is not a scam.
