If an earlier letter from lowells clearly states "the last payment on the account was 10/01/2011...and the account was defaulted and registered 10/10/2011"

After the last payment there would be a period before the cause of action, possibly 2-3 months - to be safe really, that is arguable though as this was an 18 month contract so dependent on the terms the COA may not start running until the natural end of the contract period ( arguable under BMW v Hart )

I believe that 6 months is considered reasonable for accurate data reporting to the CRA's but certainly worth a discussion in the CRA forum ( http://legalbeagles.info/forums/foru...rence-Agencies )
