  • Shall I cancel monthly Connaught payments?

For a few years now, I've been paying 2 lots of £1 monthly to Connaught Collections for two separate debts, as separate standing orders. This was based on a direct agreement with them (so didn’t go through court or anything).
I have noticed today that Connaught Collections was dissolved in August 2014. I’m aware that the company was part of/linked to 1st Credit Ltd (who are still very much going!)

I was wondering if anybody could please kindly offer me some advice on what to do next? My options as I see it are:

    a. To continue paying the 2 x £1 monthly as it is
    b. To cancel the standing orders, based on the fact I can see from Companies House that Connaught Collections no longer exist. I would then expect that if someone else owns this debt, they would make contact with me to find out why I’ve stopped payments and seek for a new payment plan to be implemented.

If I were to do the latter, I am relatively confident that if I sent a CCA Request for original copies of my agreement & CPR to 1st Credit (or whoever owns this debt now, if indeed anybody does), then they would not be able to supply this. But again, given that me paying £1 a month effectively means I’ve acknowledged the debt, would this gamble be risky? Any thoughts/advice/suggestions welcome

    Thanks
