    Is dla counted as income and deducted from any payment made under a policy? Don't understand restriction of benefits clause

    Hi and welcome.

    I would expect the payment under an income protection policy to take into account all benefits received from the state and this would include DLA.

    Without seeing the full policy wording it is difficult to be certain but most policies work on the basis that a payment under the policy does not increase the claimants income.
    for example if the policy pays 75% of income of £10,000, but there is an income of £2000pa from benefits:
    75% of £10000 = £7500
    less £2000 = £5500
    Monthly income (1/12) = £458.33 (if my maths is correct)
