  • discrimination and assault in school

In summary my friend and colleague is a female Muslim secondary school teacher in inner city Birmingham.
She was racially verbally abused by her head of department. Called and i quote,'****ing Muslim bitch'. She has a witness. She was then trapped in a store room and physically assaulted by her and has had physical threats of harm made against her. Her head of department told other members of staff that she wanted 'to rip her scarf off and straggle her with it'. The situation is compounded by the fact that the head of department has mental health issues and is on medication. The academy is aware of it. The school is brushing the thing under the carpet because they want to protect their 'outstanding' reputation. She is currently on stress leave.
    Please advise.

Hi Infinity & welcome to LB.

Has your friend raised a complaint via the academy's grievance procedure?

Is your friend in a union?

    I'll give @mariefab a nudge for you.
