  • Advice against PRA

    Hi All,

Today received my monthly free credit report from Noddle and was very surprised to see an old debt reappear.

I had a debt due to a bank charge with my old bank which I contested and basically never paid. This had been on my credit report since November 2009 and finally disappeared last month.

However today I see it's back and the year has changed to 2010 which takes it back into the 6 year period.

I checked and I see a mysterious payment has appeared in the report conveniently in October 2010, I could only see this on my other free credit check ClearScore. I know no payment was made then and am guessing it's been added to give PRA another year to grind me down.

    Any advice?

@Nibbler or @Debt Camel might be able to help (I've tagged them) xx

Whether or not this phantom payment actually happened, they are not allowed to change the default date. You should ask them to correct this.

the phantom payment is relevant because it affects whether the debt is statute barred, not what the default date is or whether it should still appear on your credit file.

The default date that I can see on the credit reports has changed by one year to one month after the phantom payment was made.

          Good afternoon,

          1. Place a notice of dispute/ correction on the credit file entry
this is also I suspect going to appear on Call Credit (Noddle parent co. + Equifax & Experian.

2 Is this new entry under PRA's name?

If so it can be tackled directly with them now.

Which bank was the account with?

I can draft a challenge to PRA if it is with them now.

What do I write in the notice of correction? The entry for both the bank and the DCA are back on the report with the new default date. The PRA one started on 31/12/2015, the bank one has 6 years of details but with the new default date.

I notice also that the letters attached to various dates are BB which I think means arrangement agreed but missed payments; no arrangements ever made with the Bank of DCA.

            Bank is The Nationwide.

You write that the data published is disputed. That's all really

I suggest phoning Nationwide HO and asking what's happened, if they wont help
then you will need to send a Subject Access Request (SAR) to NW for all the date
it hold on you/the account There's £10 statutory fee for this.

              Something is not right here!!

BTW how much was the phantom payment?

I dont know how much it was, just says payment made.

Something definitely wrong, finally had nothing on my credit report last month, even had a credit score rise. But then noticed this month credit score plummeted and then see this re-appear with new dates.
