  • 1st Credit Settlement Offer for HSBC Current Account

    Hello.
I'm just in the process of dealing with 2 DCAs, and was looking for a little advice with regards to an HSBC current account that now resides with 1st Credit. The other situation is Cap1/Cabot/Shoosmiths to which I have found the correct procedure here on LeagleBeagles

I have attached the offer letter they sent me earlier this month. I would prefer to pay off the debt but don't want to end up having to deal with another DCA in the future for the remainder.

As the debt is from a Current Account, I'm not sure what information I am to request from them, if any.

I have drawn up the following letter based on a F&F template
    Dear Sir/Madam

    Without prejudice

    1st Credit Reference: xxxxxx
Account Purchased From: HSBC Bank plc
    Purchase Date: xx/xx/2014
    Original Creditor Reference: xxxxxx/xxxxxxxx
    Balance: £1187.17

I am writing about the money which you are claiming on the above account.

With regards to the offer of 65% off the balance, I can offer the corresponding amount of £415.51 as a FULL & FINAL settlement of the account.

I am making this offer on the clear understanding that, if you accept it, neither you nor any associate company will take any other action to collect or enforce this debt in any way and that I will be released from any liability.

If you accept this offer, please confirm that you will mark my credit reference agency file to show that the above account has been paid and closed.

I can pay the amount I have offered within 4 weeks of receiving your written agreement of this offer.

Please give me details of how I can pay.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours faithfully
    Mr Blade_13

What do people think? I just want to cover my back in case they try selling on the remaining balance, which I expect they will!

    Thanks
