VT, tax and insurance

We have, today, put in writing that we want to VT our finance. We owe £614 to make it up to the half.

Finance company have said someone will contact us within 5 days to arrange an inspection and collection (hoping they will be both on the same day)

What I am unsure about it the tax and insurance? Do we have a responsibility to keep the vehicle tax and insured until it is collected?
