    Good morning all,

left Microsoft to do it's worst over night and now running on Windows 10!
Quite a long search to find some apps and favourites.
A considerable number of new options available and 3-4 updates already this morning,
very different, it'll take a while to get familiar with everything.
Best of all no problems once items are found.
    Outlook/ Edge/Google/Yahoo all working well!

      Good morning Kati,
I thought I might blow up this morning the number of options for " normal running" is staggering, at the moment running
on an " unpersonalised" standard set up, a lot of tweaking to do when time allows.:tinysmile_twink_t2:!!

Just lately it had updated only to go into a loop of then removing these updates I don't know why.
I have a very slooooow connection as it is so maybe let the dog stay asleep on that one for now!

            Good Morning DT,
It is an improvement in many ways as it has tidied up various files and favourites bar (s).

Having quite a large number of e- mail accounts is much easier to handle now on edge the new browser just getting used to where everything is now on the screen.

The download was painless and done overnight seems have taken about an hour over all so quicker than I thought.

Have "reserved" it so just a matter of seeing if both my connection and PC will stand it!

                Re: Windows 10

Are they updating Vista too now ? I had heard rumours they were going to.

I have win 7 but it won't update with the security fixes, which includes the Win 10 updater.

I have read I must reinstall win 7, but as it has been on since new, I am loath to do this, given the amount of programs I run.
It is not the programs themselves, but all the details like passwords used to install them, and having to start from scratch all over again.

                It is daunting

Vista is not getting a free update
From what I understand they are slowly rolling out the upgrade to Win 10 so you may not get it straight away, I certainly haven't been offered it yet although I have registered for it

That's my worry as origanally my PC was vista and I had the " free" update to seven.
Last few updates have done a loop and I have had to return to an earlier time to get things to work.
But how long will Microsoft support vista and 7?

                      Re: Windows 10

Updates to win 10 from win 7 are automatic, and are applied via the Windows security updates system.

On my laptop I have kept everything updated and have indeed the logo on the tool bar for me to update to Win 10, however because my desktop is failing to apply the required updates to my system, this stops the windows logo appearing on my desktop tool bar, hence I cannot update to Win 10.

I know of various people who have updated both from Win 7 & 8 to Win 10 but no one has been allowed to update from Vista, which is a shame. Vista was such a useless pile of junk that they fixed it and renamed it Win 7, so to my mind they should let Vista users update too.

This is not for me personally, but I have friends with this junk O.S on their computers

If you cannot update via windows updates due to an error, then you can use this tool from Microsoft to manually upgrade to Windows 10. It can also be used by people who don't want to wait for their reservation to come through.

Don't think I'll ever go to W10 until they allow users to choose what updates they want and not automatically install junk I don't want that will change my default browser / email client and install driver *updates* that break my graphics and sound cards. :colbert:

I haven't been invited yet so they probably know !!! eep:
They were out to get me!! But now it's too late!!
