Roland - I asked for the account to be stopped/closed IE no more transactions allowed, no more increases to the credit limit as my mum said she would pay what she owed in full at the end of the following month. Because I haven't received any communication from the bank I thought she had done just that.

The point is that it would make no difference, they would continue to charge interest and the account would not be terminated as per the SB.

The fact that you told them to close the account would have no effect. I mention this because it bares no relevance regarding the SB situation, that is all.
