  • Vodafone Issue

    Hi

I am sorry if this is in the wrong section.

About 6 years ago a Pay Monthly sim was taken out under my name by vodafone.

I lived abroad and moved back last November.

I then noticed Vodafone were putting a negative mark against my name for the last 5 years screwing up my Credit Report.

I got in contact and they said I took it up and all £80 odd pounds I had to pay.

It seems no bill was ever paid.

It took a while to get the details (account number etc) but finally they said I had to pay and my credit score would remain screwed.

I contacted the Communications Ombudsman who, while kind, seemed to have zero powers.

There decision was that Vodafone told them they completed the correct checks and it was my fault.

I asked for eveidence and they admitted there was none as Vodafone only keep records for I think it was 3 years.

I then asked with no evidence how you could act in there favour and they said Vodafone told them they did the correct checks and that was good enough.

    Could anyone helpw ith this?

For £80 I would be happy to pay to get my credit score back.

    Many Thanks

      Hi Jon82,

As your case has already been investigated by the Ombudsman, I'm afraid I'm unable to help you.

        Hi,

What hard evidence have you that you did not open this account?
Vodfone are well known for " not being able to find information"
and if you have been dealing with " customer (dis) service I not surprised
        that nothing has been done.
VF should have records going back at least 6 years.

Address details and " account " information " must have been provided in order to open
        the account.

I suggest that you make a Formal Complaint to the CEO of VF, attach all evidence that you
can muster on your address at the time, your bank at the time was opened.

( if the person who opened the account used your banking details to open the account this could indicate it was someone known to you and who had access to your information.

Forgot Jeroen Hoencamp is the CEO I think.

They said they deposited some money into an account, which is there verison of saying it was me. I have requested the account details and they say they do not have them anymore, but in the notes they said they did it and that is that.

I am just pretty pissed that still now my credit report is getting ****ed and tehre is nothing I can do apart from pay the £80 odd quid and let it repair itself

Actually here are my details :

          Jonathon Lennie (My actual name)
31 Boycott Avenue, Oldbrook, Milton Keynes, MK6 2PN (Is the address that the account is linked too, I lived there for 3 months when I was working in Milton Keynes, I am from and live in Portsmouth)

Could you please explain why no debt recovering agency has come looking for me in the 5 years since this happened?

And as you have no evidence you can provide that I opened this account, what are you willing to do?

            Hello Jon,

Have you been through the Formal Complaint Procedure with VF a complaint to the CEO, which
allows 56 days for an investigation and response?

I have no doubt VF has now sold the alleged debt for a few quid in the hope that you
            give up on your complaint.

A subject access request SAR under DPA 1998 to get data from VF?

I cannot think of anything more you can do apart from court action.

              Hi Jon,

As you remain unhappy with the outcome of your complaint, I'd recommend contacting the Ombudsman again to discuss things further.

              Kind regards,

Have you submitted a formal subject access request (data protection act) to Vodafone ?

Presumably you've been through the evidence with vodafone and the ombudsman that you lived abroad when this SIM contract was taken out.

They have no evidence as it gets destroyed after 4 years (I maybe wrong on the years but it has gone as they can only keep it for x amount of time)

What is a formal subject access request?
