Re: Urgent help needed in next 72 hours

    Hi Guys

Had a reply from Hyndburn Borough Council saying the email has been sent to senior management in the council tax recovery department and that they will contact me asap.

Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

Its much worse than I thought...............she hasnt paid any council for almost 4 years silly silly girl has 1 debt with Rossendales and 5 with a different company however council have called them all back and have put it all on hold for a month to allow me and daughter time to sort her finances out.

The man from council was fantastic very understanding and sympathetic.

She has no claim for benefit in although he seems to think she would be entitled to some benefit due to her income. I cannot believe she has allowed it to get this bad but she buries her head in the sand. I previously had control of her finances but gave it back to her when I thought she was doing ok and could sort it out.............bad move................

Can someone please recommend who to go to for DRO as my local CAB has 2 month backlog for debt advisor and the sooner this is done the better for all of us.

She also has lots of bank charges so I am going to go down hardship route nothing ventured nothing gained.

        Thanks

If you local CAB has a backlog for DROs, try National Debtline https://www.nationaldebtline.org or The Debt Counsellors http://thedebtcounsellors.org.uk.

If this is urgent, you need to make sure her debts aren't more than £15,000, or she is just going to waste time exploring a DRO that will be turned down (the 15k limit goes up to 20k in October).
