  • British Gas applying for warranty of entry.

    Hello. New to the forum.

Actually posting as the mother of my daughter has received a letter from British Gas with regards to an application for warrant of entry to the house she rents.

She is a single parent who has recently returned to work. She has a sizeable outstanding balance on her gas and electricity account (£2k). This debt has accrued through payment difficulties in the past.

She had offered £220 per month in payment towards usage and debt which British Gas have rejected.

She has told British Gas that should prepayment meters be fitted there will be an issue with the landlord that will lead to eviction. British Gas have asserted that will be an issue between tenant and landlord.

Does anyone out there have any advice as to what can be done to encourage British Gas to accept an offer? Or is a forced entry inevitable? The application for warranty is scheduled for next Monday.

Apologies if I'm treading over old ground - I've seen some of the threads with similarities to this issue, but I'm not really making head nor tail of it.

Thank you in advance for any help.
