  • Robinson Way - Home Visit

    Hi All,

Its been sometime since ive been on here. Sadly i am back but not as scared as previous times due to all the help and advice i got to sort me out. Anyway my partner is off sick and was home yesterday and a guy called (well hammered the door down) posting a card to me when he didn't answer as was worried who this person was. It was address in my (ex) married name which i haven't used since roughly 2009/2010. All it states is Santander £661.06. I cleared an old credit card and knew there was something to an old overdraft but doubt it was that much or could have risen to this amount. Any ideas on what i can send them to not call at my partners house to see me and to prove what the heck this is for? Thanks

i realise that trying to sort something quick is better than letting it get to the court claim stage so would really like some pointers.

I see you wanted a " prove it" letter is this for Robinson Way?

Have you had any correspondence from RW or its Parent Company Hoist?

Do some checking Kelike check the free credit reference service Noddle to see 1. if is there and 2. What is showing e.g. default date,

Does this card have an account No. on it?

To my mind if this card was not in an envelope and sealed, the " visitor" has breached the DPA as details of the alleged debt could be read by anyone.

Check the details asked for, post the info back here and I will draft a letter for you.

          balance owing.
          yes please it is.

i will be completely honest i may have done sometime back, but cant remember letters but definitely had missed calls from them in the past as i googled the number. There is an account number on this card that was put in a sealed envelope but it isn't anything i recognise, i have been on noddle but nothing there, never heard of Hoist either. Dont really want to pay to see credit file with another agency.

          Thanks

OK sounds promising, not on credit files usually means the entry has been removed after 6 years Paid or Not.

The criteria for Statute Barred in England & Wales = 6 clear years without any payments ( to any party) or written acknowledgment of the debt: Seems very possible!!

            (Hoist now owns RW).

We can try a " Statute Barred " letter which will Not affect anything or acknowledge any liability for the debt but we will find out if RW have anything on the debt.

Would you like a draft letter?

Hi. Im thinking I most likely used Santander still the end of 2009 or early 2010 so don't think if it is something with them that it will be sb. Or should we still try that?

              Thanks

Do you think I'm best off paying for experian to see if anything on there? Just in case.

Wasnt sure what to do really but rather than wait or bug I just sent an email to say I received card but have no idea what they*are*referring to and to please not visit the house again without making an appointment. Waiting to see what I get back.
Hopefully I've not made a bad decision.

                    Thanks

                        Hi

just an update. I've had a letter through the post today saying they note my my concern and that all collection activity is on hold.
I'm assuming they will some digging to check their info and get back to me in due course.

                            Hi

Had a letter back today, with a statement of sorts. Says it is a Santander account that opened 1999 and defaulted July 2010. Any ideas how i should respond. I also found a Hoist stamp on my credit file for the same thing.

                            Thanks

                              Hi,

Does this default date sound right?

Is this Santander " statement" or a lash up by Hoist?

Post a copy here if you can please.
