  • Distance Learning/ Home Schooling A Levels

My daughter is off to college next year and her course in Early Years Education doesn't quite give her the qualifications she wants and she wants to do 2 A Levels in Business and History . Of course that doesn't fit in the box with the course so we're looking at distance learning.

Any one with experience in this ?
I obvioiusly don't want to end up with some dodgy timewasting ripoff company.... but Open University don't do A Levels.

    Been looking at http://www.ool.co.uk/

I have a friend (yep at least one!) whose daughter I think had a similar problem.
She's now studying to be a vet.
I'll contact him later to see how she went about getting her A levels.

Just spoken to Keith, who homed schooled his two children.
After his daughter had Qualified as a veterinary nurse she decided she wanted to be a full blown vet, and had to get some A levels.
Coincidentally she used Oxford Open Learning and although she did well It was some time ago, so he wouldn't like to recommend them as things might have changed,

Ahh that's good to hear thanks Des. I have been reading around and can't see anything terrible said about them. I've only ever done degree level stuff by distance learning so A Levels is a new area. I'll research them some more.

I'll ask around on the forums and groups I'm in tomorrow Ame - if you want?? I know there are IGCSEs (that lots of homeschooled children including the boys do) so there's got to be something higher (or maybe they'll know more about which OU courses she can do)
          xx

Re: Distance Learning/ Home Schooling A Levels

                Hi Amethyst,

I've used ICS (www.icslearn.co.uk) for courses previously and I know they offer a wide range of A-Levels. I must admit to being confused - why is your daughter is doing a qualification in Early Years if she wants to do A-Levels?

                Regards,

                Matt
