  • When do they credit check?

    Hi,

I am out of contract for my mobile phone and my landline/broadband so basically I am paying top rates. I am also in a court case and as such my credit rating is zilch, I even got refused for a new bank account with a different bank. So my question is if I try and upgrade or change my contracts for my mobile phone and landline/bb will they do a credit check in which case I will surely fail and then what will they do?

With the mobile if I dropped down to a sim only contract I would save about £10 a month, so would they credit check for that new contract?

With my landline/bb if I get a better and cheaper deal will they credit check that?

I am obviously very scared of losing my phones if they did credit check and I failed?

    Any advice really appreciated

    Hello Carnelian
When you apply for a bank account they are very rigorous and none but the whiter than white will get a full bank account but you could open a new Basic account without much bother. As far as Utilities are concerned I am not so sure. We have been able to change providers with defaults on out credit files. As you have been to court you may have a CCJ but I am not sure how that will affect their decision but if it is just defaults I would say ‘go for it’.

      Hi cornelian,

All mobile company credit check especially when you switch from one net work to another. Could you tell us how your phone and broadband providers are ?

        Hi,

My mobile is o2, it's the best reception here, and landline/bb is BT.

So if I did fail, would they cancel the service do you think? I wasn't looking to swop to others just get a better deal.

Personally, I can't see why you'd get turned down for service through the same provider, especially if you have been paying them every time up to now :noidea:
