    Hi,
I have two debts with Cabot. They are offering a 10% settlement deal which is just over £100 to clear one of the debts should I accept the deal?
I only have paperwork back to 2012 and don't have the original agreements both debts are from around 2003 defaulted around 2006/2007 I was paying them until March last year so they are not statute barred.
I can record calls so I could call them and see if they will offer the same deal on the second debt or contact them by email.
I really want to clear the debts.I am disabled and my health is poor one of my triggers is stress I could not cope if they visit my home. What is the best course of action?

Hi, Are these still on your credit reference files?
It would be difficult for Cabot to start court action 7-8 years after the default.
My reaction would be thinking about offering £50 on the first debt, but if these
are not on credit files they can't harm you.

Thanks for the reply. I have checked my credit file with Experian and they are not on my file my credit rating is 930.In fact there are no defaults on file at all.I have four debts in total all defaulted the same time.I had to leave my job through ill health and that is when I defaulted.

Seems to me that Cabot are trying to squeeze the last few quid out of you to get the debts off the books!

It is your choice make very low offers of Full & Final payment (if affordable without causing hardship) or ignore Cabot's begging letters.

I called them and recorded the call. The debt they are offering 10% in full and final payment on is statute barred no payments or contact has been made since default 2007.I never acknowledged the debt and just said we will talk about it at a later date no payments were offered by myself. The other debt is being passed to a collection agency and is enforceable. They said if I contact the other company the debt will be passed back to Cabot.

OK Cabot a so underhand It's getting ridiculous.
Get rid of them on this one asap.

            Fao Mr Ken Stannard
            CEO Cabot Financial.

            Date?

            Ref: use theirs.

            Dear Mr Stannard,

I refer you to a letter from Cabot dated xx/xx/aaa, offering a reduction of x% off the alleged debt. I am happy to say that I will not be taking up Cabot's kind offer as the alleged debt is Statute Barred and I will not be making any payment.

Please ensure that Cabot ceases to pursue the alleged debt to continue to do so may amount to harassment.

            signed for post check receipt.
