Just over a year ago a young couple saw a house for sale in an estate agents. They spoke to the agent and told him that they are not sure how much their existing home would sell for. The agent arranged a free survey but they discovered the differential too great to go ahead. Now they have discovered another more affordable house for sale privately and they are considering selling their existing house privately. If they do this can the estate agent demand and fees for his original valuation? It was stated to be a free offer with no obligation.

I doubt it. It is normal practice when selling a house to get several valuations from Estate Agents before choosing one (or not choosing any). I can't see how the EA would charge in this scenario as no sale took place. This is when the EA gets paid as I understand things.
This seems a little away from your normal youth charity questions. What was the name of the charity again? I did ask, but missed any reply, sorry. -

As to our youth charity. we do not name it in relation to questions as it could just possibly lead to the discovery of young peoples identity. As to this case, it came from a young couple aged 23 and we operate with the age group 11-29 though most enquiries come from teenagers. Sometimes a question from a young person relates to a much older person that they are concerned about, and yes, many DO care about older people.Comment
