When you contacted Rundles, did you tell them you could only realistically afford £45 per calendar month and what was their response to this?

Yes are initial offer upon first contact was for £45 but they refused and said we HAD to pay £70 or risk enforcement agents visiting us.

I feel you need to speak to the Revenues Manager at the local authority involved and do not be fobbed off by any statements that they cannot deal with it and that you have to speak to Rundles. A local authority can recall any debt to its administration at any time.

If at all possible, record the call and then follow up with an email and letter to confirm the conversation. Be prepared to initiate a formal complaint with a view to escalating to the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO), if necessary, if the local authority involved chooses to be unco-operative.

You would be wise to action this tomorrow.

I will contact them tomorrow. I will be unable to record any call though as I don't have the means.
          Thank you for your help.

Take written notes during the conversation. These are called Contemporaneous Notes and can be used as evidence of a conversation should it be necessary to pursue a matter on a more formal basis at a later date.
