Re: Android tablet problem

Went back to the shop earler today and the assisstant that has been dismissive was eating his sandwich, he said he would have to speak " to the boss" he, apparently, wasn't available he did then phone the suppliers but, apparently, were also having lunch!
Still would not release the replacement but promised he would ring me.:tung:
He actually did! I can collect it tomorrow.
I again asked what warrenty it would come with but no answer as yet, he seemed slightly amazed that I had asked this question!

I thought most 'standard' warranties covered things for 12 months at least??

So did I but apparently, even though is a " new" replacement it will only have the remainder of the existing years warranty ( early December) plus the amount of time I have been without it. ( this according to Mr Dismive! )
Will have to check it out tomorrow!

what a load of B***s ... if I was you I'd go for the full 12 months (it is a new one after all) as the warranty should come direct from the manufacturer (shouldn't it?)

Re: Android tablet problem

Was the cover a Guarantee (as per post 1) or a warranty (as per post 18)?
A guarantee is an agreement given by a trader without extra charge (and with your skills you should be able to persuade the retailer to offer an extention in view of the problems you have had.
A warranty is a contract for cover for goods for which the consumer has paid. Basically an insurance policy that will be valid only for the agreed period (12 months unless it is an extended warranty). Probably arranged with an insurance company, and unlikely they will agree to extend without an additional payment.

Re: Android tablet problem

Just the "ordinary" 12 month one, as its a small local shop they did not offer an extended warranty.
Have to see what occurs tomorrow.
Thanks vanman will try and make sense of your helpful post!
They did admit, in the shop, that the origanal supplier had ceased trading and I had found a comment on an Amozon page from someone having problems and being unable to contact them.

Re: Android tablet problem

Your contract is with the shop, if they hadn't been able to get a replacement from the supplier then they would have had to offer you a suitable replacement of equivalent spec.

Re: Android tablet problem

The replacement is there and I still do not know why they would not let me have it.
Having done some digging after reading Vanmans post I discovered that the importers had gone into administration in January this year following a dispute with Argos.
Google was also involved as they, apparently, not obtained a license for the location softwear. So in effect they were prevented from selling any tablet computer's.
So still not certain if the replacement is " bankrupt" stock.
The plot well and truly thickens!:tinysmile_cry_t:

not the shop I go it from!.

Sounds as if you have a refurbished returned item.
However, after 7 visits to this shop, no problem finding your way there and back

Thats what I thought, back on a borrowed Samsung ( from Mr DJ) may try and keep it, the difference is like chalk and cheese!
May ask for a partial refund and put it towards a new Samsung!

The more I dig the more dodgy the "replacement" is was told it was "new" but no such thing, as @des8 says it is more than likely to be a refurbished return and I suspect they will do the exact thing to the one I had to take back.
On the info bit it is down as being built in Feb 2012 and as you know I discovered a "screen shot of a web page for a computer repair shop in Wales.
The original importers were based in Penarth in Wales, wish I hadn't deleted it now.
