Hi Woody ... it sounds like they might have levied against your car but all is not lost

Was your offer of £50 a month refused?
Have you shown proof of low income to Phoenix?
Have you told them that the car is necessary for your job?

As it is a council tax debt, your council have the option of recalling a debt at any time. They can also put a hold on enforcement while a dispute is being dealt with

I would suggest that you contacted the council (and your local CAB and/or MP) explaining how you have made a repayment offer, and detailing all further actions from the bailiffs. You could outline your need for the car and the lack of public transport etc... at this time, and request that the account is put on hold while your repayment offer is reviewed.

Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

It doesn't matter where your journey begins, so long as you begin it...
