Re: £5800 mobile phone charges following theft in BCN If anyone can advise me ; (

    Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all well
I thought I'd let you know. Miles ( Brignall) has been in touch from The Guardian. He is such a committed, generous soul.
He has managed to persuade Vodafone to reduce my bill from £5800 to £500.
Deep Respect and Thanks to Miles and to you Tools and Amethyst - its such a relief and a weight has lifted.

There appears to have been some confusion , VF are saying they weren't aware and neither was the Ombudsman.. of the assault by the cyclist. They had verbal communications from me about it and a copy of the police statement clearly saying what had happened.
I will keep visiting this site and help where I can
Have a good weekend you dear folk
    Mabel

Tools... OK .. in answer .. I don't know , , VF and Ombuds had all the information and police statement from BCN Police about a cyclist whacking me round the head and stealing my phone ..( VF in their Coms with the Guardian tomorrow are somehow denying that they or Ombudsman had that information) REALLY x

Unfortunately, this scenario is far too common.

It certainly makes one wonder whether mobile phone companies are doing enough to tackle this problem?

I would remind you that debt collectors have no powers whatsoever. You do not need to talk to them. In fact, it is very easy to block their numbers on most mobile handsets and there are true calls etc. for landline phones.

If it was me, I would wait for them to take me to court (I very much doubt that they will). Having said that, it all depends on how crucial a perfect credit rating is for you. If you can't have any defaults due to your employment etc. then I would advise to agree a prepayment plan.

Tweeting on Vodafone site may also help, probably more than writing to the CEO.

Vodafone already has an extremely bad reputation in some respects and there's been a few stories like this in the papers. Unfortunately others are pretty much as bad.

I recently asked about daily limits on phone usage when travelling abroad at a local Vodafone shop. They told me that they weren't able to set any limits. I wonder why?

I have learnt so many lessons. ( Publicity and Media can make a huge difference and Miles Brignall from The Guardian has been a warrior and a generous soul- about my case and other cases regarding Vodafone and other phone companies and he has my deepest respect )

You are also a warrior and what makes change is , people sharing their individual experience's, skills and knowledge and advice and connections and creating and having a community that empower folk
