  • Strange Behaviour

This morning I had a "Notice of Visit by the Bailiff" pushed through my letter box.

Firstly, it continually refers to "bailiff where I thought that since April they were referred to as "Enforcement Officers".

Secondly it states that the bailiff called but no one was in. There were three adults in the house, as well as a dog that always barks when someone knocks the door. Nobody knocked or rang the bell. I was actually coming down the stairs at the time and saw the envelope come through the letter box. Therefore, this person has lied.

This goes back to an ongoing debt involving Cabot Financial and Restons Solicitors.

I would be grateful for any views on this - particularly to the question "was this a genuine enforcement officer"

    Many thanks.

    Hi Glenn, welcome to LB

Which firm does it say it comes from??
Is there a named 'bailiff' on the letter?? (you can check to see if they are registered here - http://certificatedbailiffs.justice....catedBailiffs/)
I know on MY Notice of Enforcement, the word 'bailiff' was not there - it used the name 'Enforcement Agent'!!

      Re: Strange Behaviour

      Hi Kati.

Thanks for the rapid response and the advice.

The Notice of Visit is from Swansea Civil Justice Centre. I checked them on the link you provided and, of course, they do exist. However, the "bailiff" named on the notice is not listed with them, nor does he appear on the register in his own right.

      This is getting interesting.

      Thanks again

      Glenn

          Re: Strange Behaviour

This sounds like a visit from the County Court Bailiff - they do not appear on the Bailiff Register.

Do you already have a CCJ? If unsure I suggest you check ASAP.
