pre-removal notice from collectica for my son

my son no longer lives with me and i have recieved a letter regarding a hmcts (no idea what that is ) and have to pay 1,055.00 or they will remove goods and charge extra costs. my son left in december and it was not on good terms so dont really have contact with him or to be honest where he is to find out what this is about .
can anyone help me find out what i should do ? and if they can take my things from my home ? many thanks

This sounds very much like a Magistrates Court Fine - HMCTS is Her Majesty's Courts & Tribunal Service.

The bailiff can only take your son's goods (I assume he's over 18?). Inform them he doesn't live there - they'll have to find him themselves.

thanks for your comments , yes it is from the courts . just found out it for driving offence . i have emailed collectica to inform them he does not live at my address and sent a message to my son through a friend for him to ring the court and sort the fine out . fingers crossed the bailiffs dont come back .

It might be worth contacting the court and informing THEM that your son no longer lives there too ... cover both bases :tinysmile_twink_t2:

Unfortunately this something bailiffs hear on a regular basis and so will probably still attend. They may try to bear pressure knowing that in a lot of cases that a parent will cough up for their children. As you say he should do the right thing and contact the Court but this is not always the case. You need to be on your guard for unwelcome visitors.

think its been sorted , my son went to the courts and has now got a payment coming out of his job seekers each fortnight so I hope that its finished with now but thanks for advice and replys .

One thing he needs to watch is if his JSA stops or changes then the payment will also cease then you are back to square one again. Best to check that it has been taken each time.
