Helping My Dad

Hi all
Im trying to help my dad who is worried about getting seperated from his girlfriend, ill give all the details i know for definate and will try and get any more if you need any.

The got a house together about 10 years ago and my dad put up a £60,000 deposi,t now, i think they pay half the mortgage each but not 100% sure.
My dad has a pension and has retired but his partner still works.
My mum and dads old house is going to be sold soon and he will recieve half the profits.

Also he has said in previous conversations that she is putting money (at least £800) into her daughters bank account every month when she gets paid, and he knows her daughter doesnt need financial help.

Now he is getting worried and/or depressed thinking about what will happen should they split up, what is she entitled to???

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated, because he wont go see a solicitor for a free first visit.(he thinks she will take half of everything or more)

Hi and welcome.

Assuming your father and his girlfriend are just living together and there is no formal co habitation agreement, and there are no children involved, ownership of assets is normally determined by who paid for the assets. Jointly purchased assets would be divided according to the proportion each contributed to the purchase.

The house is a different kettle of fish.
Is it in your father's name,or joint names?
If the latter was it purchased as a joint tenancy or tenants in common?
