Hello all,
I have recieved a letter from Welcome/MKDP stating that the latter had bought the debt from Welcome effective April 2014 and that they want payments etc etc.
Original debt taken in early 2008, defaulted (I think) mid 2009 (I plan on sending a SAR shortly to confirm things).
The debt with either Welcome or MKDP does NOT appear on my credit report with Equifax. Until I send the SAR (And get a sucessful reply) the only proof of the amount I owe is in their letter and as such I am reluctant to acknowledge such debt without definitive proof of the amount and liability.
Aside from the SAR, please can you advise me on a best course of action? For example, given that they have not placed it on my credit report, can they legally prove I owe anything at all? I thought that credit reporting was a two-way "proof thing"....
Kind regards
