Now i note you said the cut off point with the FOS, but have you also tried to ring them and explain the situation of the loss in your family etc and the fact that you dont know where you are with both EGG/Barclays etc.

The FOS can consider in your case of still taking on your case within good reason and in my opinion you do have a good reason with what you have been through.

However, have you also tried emailing the chief Executive officer (CEO) of those businesses and telling them of the situation? Maybe its worth doing this, and also make it clear of how you have been treated, any paperwork you have email it by attachment to the CEO and ask if the case can be looked into and if they could get back to let you know by 14 days.

Meanwhile do contact the FOS who may consider due to the fact of going through a bereavement, of taking on your case.

Please keep us posted in this matter and am wishing you the very best of luck x:tinysmile_twink_t2:
Thank you for your welcome and your kindness.
I will contact FOS and ask for them to consider my circumstances. I don't know if I could go through the CEO process though. I had a bad car accident in December 2011 and suffer PTSD and major depression and anxiety since, along with nerve and physical injuries so I do find dealing with people on the phone very difficult. My mum died around the time all this claim business started so it has been a real struggle to keep a track of all this, alongside a LloydsTSB claim too. I registered that one with FOS at Christmas but haven't been able to actually send them everything. Actually writing the post yesterday has helped me at least get the Egg/ Barclaycard fiasco in some sort of order.
Thank you once again. I am glad it all made some sense to someone else. I will update you as to progress,

      Re: Barclaycard/Egg Issues!!

I think I will also reply to the letter from Barclaycard that told me the account wasn't transferred from Egg to ask them to clarify why not, as my understanding, as is a lot of other people's, is that all accounts were transferred, closed or not. I see on this thread one post that says this is the case, but another that says closed accounts were not transferred. I just wonder if when I was transferred to Blue egg card (also known as Egg money I think) that Egg closed my Green Egg card account. In that case maybe it did not get transferred, But the original PPI product didn't change. As you say, ask the FOS to take it on. My brain literally does hurt! :-)
I was wondering whether I should ask Barclaycard to tell me why they upheld my claim for mis-sold PPI from 2004 to 2006, as they only stated that they agreed it was not suitable. So if it was not suitable then, how could it have been when I took it out? Only thing is, I worry they will say, we made a mistake , we shouldn't have repaid to you! As I have been unable to work since the car accident, that refund was soon accounted for so I don't have it to pay back, if they did decide that.
Sometimes wish I'd never heard of PPI refunds! If I was working I don't think I would be bothered to carry on, but living on ESA (support group because of my mental state, awarded after I had to fight a decision that I could work although my GP and NHS specialist wrote letters saying, no way!!) and DLA, which ran out last November and as I was a day late getting the paperwork in, because of my condition, they said now you have to jump through hoops to claim PIP instead (another battle I am going through- applied Nov 13 and still waiting for an assessment!)
I tell you, I could write the scripts for the next 20 episodes of East Enders!!

HI I've just had a letter from Canada Square and they have rejected my claim. I think it's any card that were paid up and cancelled up until 2011 that were not transferred that seems to be the way it goes.

        Good Luck!

          Hi all
Yes it does seem that cards closed before 2011 were not transferred. But I rang the FOS today, having a rare ok day, and explained as much as I could of the whole sorry tale. The person I spoke to was very patient and kind. He said my circumstances re the Egg/Canada square side of things would certainly be ok to address as extenuating circumstances. But as I discussed the fact that Barclaycard had refunded me PPI from 2004 (when the green card was changed to blue/egg money) it became clear that I still had 6 months from the date of Barclaycards statement that they were not going to do anything further. The chap I spoke to asked if I wanted to take out the complaint against Canada Square (Egg) or Barclaycard. I had to say I didn't know as I was confused as to who was now responsible. His reply was that even if I took the complaint out against Canada Square, as Barclaycard had actually made some repayment they (FOS) would go to them first to ask questions, then if it was found to be Canada Square, they would go down that avenue
I am just relieved that I can send all the paper work off to FOS and those who have the training and expertise can see if they can make head or tail of all this. I am not expecting an answer anytime soon, but when I do, I will let you know.
BTW I told the chap from the FOS that I felt PPI was mis- sold as I had applied online, the yes/no boxes were already pre-ticked yes which appeared to be a necessity for being accepted, the terms and conditions were not made readily accessible so I had no idea it was optional or that certain conditions were excluded. As I worked in a stressful job, I would not have chosen a product that excluded stress, even if I had though I would need it. I was working full time in a professional role with a good sickness/ redundancy package. My husband had also just received £20,000 and would have helped me financially if I had needed him to. I had a life insurance policy in place too. I was also not made aware in the paperwork sent out that the policy was optional , the cost was not made clear and I did not know that the monthly premium would accrue interest along with my balance.
The person at FOS said from the limited info I had given him, he could advise that I stood at least a 50/50 chance of success so they would take the case on..So
Loulouxx don't settle for Canada Square's refusal to pay you back - give the FOS a ring, tell them your complaint and they will tell you if you have a reasonable good chance and talk you through all that you need to do next. Very best of luck

Went straight to the CEO of Citi Group and gave Facts and Figures about how much PPI upheld FOS complaints cost and about my complaint. A few days later got all premiums interest plus 8% back and compensation for the trouble. I have another thread with all the letters and emails that were sent have a look it might help get a quick answer. Good Luck xx

Hi Loulouxx. Glad to hear that - brilliant result!! Is Citigroup the same as Canada square? I will look up the thread you mentioned - not sure how to do that but will give it a go. xx

                Re: Barclaycard/Egg Issues!!

                Hi LouLouxx
I found the thread and take my hat off to you for your absolute tenacity and refusal to give up.
My situation was the same as yours in that the box was pre-ticked and when I unticked it, the application did not progress. I cant remember what happened, I think it just would not load the next page. However when I ticked it again, the next page loaded. I didn't ring anyone - as far as I knew it was all dealt with online, so just took the fact that I couldn't proceed unless the box remain ticked to mean that it had to be ticked.
As you phoned their customer services on two occasions and was actually told that the ppi was needed for the application to proceed and that if you cancelled it, the account would close, I feel that you have a stronger case than me. I think I will have to continue to go the FOS road as I just don't have the health to carry out a prolonged onslaught against people at the top. I am also 3 weeks away from emigrating to France so having to conserve my energy for packing, organising etc. Bit wimpy of me I know but all I feel capable of. I will however use some of your points, if that's ok.
I also have a case with the FOS against Lloyds who definitely did advise me as I took the card out after being targeted (their words) because I had gone in to branch to apply for a mortgage. Same thing, loan PPI reimbursed but the card PPI not, with a generic letter of refusal and completely ignoring all points I raised.
I will keep you updated, although I realise this may take a good while! xx

Vallo, before taking the FOS approach try all other avenues because it is such a long time to wait. I had 3 'finals' from canada square but an email to their CEO and every other manager I could fine done the trick lmao. Yep they're the same company so also look up Citigroup. Good Luck with the move. But as I said don't give up and go to the FOS just yet. Please let us know how you get on and anything on here feel free to use if it helps! Fingers Crossed

                    Thanks LouLouxx
I had already registered the complaint with FOS and have had a pack back with the questionnaire partly filled in etc and a request for any paperwork relating to it, copies of letters etc. But yes, as you say it's a long time to wait and as I am moving to France in 3 weeks time, going to be even more drawn out. It's just that I find keeping my thoughts on track quite hard and lose the strength to carry on. As a result of a car accident in December 2011 I have PTSD, fibromyalgia and depression and anxiety, so it's hard for me to keep focussed.
Also,Canada Square turned me down more than six months ago, but because I had been put in touch with Barclaycard by CS, I hadn't gone any further with their rejection. Barclaycard then took months to decide that the card in question hadn't been transferred to them when they took over Egg business in 2011. So I am not even sure which company CEO I should contact. Or both? To be honest, it's really getting me down now and I do wonder if it is worth the stress, when it has such an adverse effect on my health .I have thought about going with one of these pip reclaim firms but find that daunting too.
Thanks for all your input and interest. If you can let me know the email addresses you think I should use, I will try to give it a go. x
