  • Advice Needed for a Friend in need

    Hi Everyone,

My best friend's in a really bad situation and any advice would be greatly appreciated. I wasn't sure what forum this needed to be sorry if its the wrong one.

Husband was arrested for drink driving. He's self employed, and works in security. A driving would mean losing both jobs. They claim for tax credits but that's it. He's an alcoholic and his parents are sending him to rehab for treatment out of their savings. She has 2 kids one is in school the youngest is in nursery part time. She has 2 DMPs in place and pays on time each month never missed one.

Last week he had no transport to work and only had a few days work which has left £200 less.

Advice needed as to what benefits can she claim while he's away and after. Also in regards to her DMPs is there a way to defer or change the payments. She recently found out a relative is close to dying from cancer and with the stress if this added ten fold I'm hoping there's a way that in regards to DMP to not add to it.

    Please any help appreciated.

    Thanks

    Loulou xx

Hi Loulou, here is a link from turn to us http://www.turn2us.org.uk/informatio..._hospital.aspx as it states proper advice should be sort especially as this would be a voluntary hospitalisation, I think she should speak to her local Welfare Rights office then at least she will know exactly what she can claim and for how long.
