  • "hello technical dept" phonecall from 092852

Just had a phonecall from 092852 (full number from 1471) who insisted I connected them to the main account holder for the PC.
I asked them to confirm to me who that was, if they are microsoft they will have a record of who is the acc holder.
the advisor became abusive (I was by now enjoying this call and laughing openly at them) I said ok, let me get something straight, I dont have chiquita on my head and I didnt fall out the chestnut tree in the garden.. I HAVE A MAC!!

Then the advisor turned.. and I mean really nasty, I got told in a really sinister voice "gooooooooo **** yourself biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch!"

I have reported them to both Sky and Actionfraud.. but, be careful guys, and dont worry about me, I get called much worse at work.

    Re: "hello technical dept"

Just the usual mob from India trying to con you out of money (AND PEOPLE PAY) by fixing non existent problems on you computer. The number you have will be a non existent one. No good reporting it to anyone in this country. This web page may explain more.

If you do know of anyone that has been conned by these people then as soon as possible raise a charge back or what ever to get the money back.

The foul language is not at all unusual. I managed to keep one of them busy for 40 minutes. But when I suggested that if he was in Calcutta then he should should find that black hole and jump in it the language got really bad.

All Windows computers will have errors in the error log. What this lot do is apply a filter to the log so that all that the user sees is the big red apparently serious ones. It's not obvious but it is possible to delete the log entries so that it appears that they have done the work.

P.S. Noticed you've already been on the site I linked to. The number, and names, change on a regular basis.

Sadly a lot of people do fall for these scams, especially when the callers act more professionally. Elderly relations of someone I know fell for it hook, line and sinker, they were fleeced £120 and they also supplied the scammer with full bank and/or card details to make the payment.

The worse thing is that they go on to use those details for fraudulent purposes, not just to extract payment for the alleged 'service'.

This is another example of the window cleaner calls post

            http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...d=1#post384089

I wonder if we spent more time wasting theirs they may think again and we can do this by acting completely gullible and at the end telling them that you are too stupid to have a bank account or debit card so will monopoly money do after all we are all pretending that this is real!!!
I am not a legal professional

I will only comment and give advice in situations which I have experience that has been gained over the years in pre legal negotiation and redress. At the end of the day when there is a legal situation of life changing or serious consequence, always and I mean always seek professional advice from a solicitor.

                  Re: "hello technical dept"

I had one a little while ago.

After the usual introductory chat, I said that I wasn't really sure what to do. They should, I thought, better speak to my dog. I offered the telephone to the dog, who obligingly barked a few times. I returned to the caller and said 'My dog says No'. The phone then went down, cutting off the outraged screeching ...

Some good news for a change.

                    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26818745

:juge: Microsoft scam man is sentenced in 'landmark' case :incourt:

Trading Standards hailed the case as being the first victory of its kind

A man who ran a Microsoft computer scam tricking people into paying for free anti-virus software has received a suspended four-month jail sentence.

Mohammed Khalid Jamil, 34, from Luton, hired people at an Indian call centre to falsely tell victims their computers had a serious problem.

The targets would be charged between £35 and £150 for software Microsoft made available for free.

As well as the suspended sentence, Jamil was ordered to pay a £5,000 fine.

He must also pay £5,665 compensation and £13,929 in prosecution costs.

The decision has been hailed as a "landmark" case by Trading Standards

Don't let them grind you down

TPS doesn't help as these calls are via the internet and from abroad,. The number changes regularly. Just have fun with them.
