  • Lloyds TSB Classic Credit Card

    Good Afternoon all

I have just received a follow-up phone call from LTSB in regards to my PPI complaint for my LTSB credit card.

Firstly there was a bit of a mix up in regards to my employment because I thought my card was taken out at a later date I first put down the wrong employer. Lloyds TSB said they would call me back so I could get the correct info together.

It turned out I was in the last two months working for Sainsburys.
I had worked there three years since I was 15.
I was contracted to 11 hours a week.
When I left college, I remained on the same contract and did additional over time whilst looking for full time employment.
My contract was never changed and the over time was never guaranteed.

The lady from LTSB said that even though I was on an 11 hour/week contract somethings were still eligible in the policy for part timers.

    My first question is:
Isn't a part time worker not eligible for PPI coverage?

    And my second question is:
I did over time but it was not contracted. This does not make me more than a part time employee, does it?

Many thanks in advance for your assistance and responses

Hiya, working 11 hours is part time hours as they are less than 18 and 16 hours, and from what I can recall you have to be working over those hours (as a solid long term contract) to be eligible.
So I would not mention the overtime as that's all it was - Overtime

I mentioned to them about the over time but I emphasized the fact it was not contracted, it was not guaranteed etc.

So have they came to a decision on your complaint yet?

I would try getting hold of the terms and conds of the policy and the details of the hours should be enclosed on them..
You could call into your local branch and ask them to provide you with the policy details of your account (these are free) and check the information on them. Once you find the details, take a photo copy and highlight it to send back to them, but working part time hours will not protect you with ppi.

They have told me that I would have a decision in 2-3 weeks which will make my claim 10weeks old. Guess I will have to sit and wait.

Fingers crossed then, any probs let is know, we can always take this matter further with the banks Chief executive officer (CEO) due to timescales etc, hopefully all will be resolved in your favour ;-)

I just called them because I am at the eight week mark and they have rejected my claim.
Apparently the letter was posted last week.
When I have the letter I will let you know what the response was

Re: Lloyds TSB Classic Credit Card

                  Hiya
It is more difficult to have a credit card ppi complaint upheld, more so than loan ppi, but when you get the letter, if you let me know what they said, we will work on how to deal with this, to make sure it rightfully comes back to you.
I would also like to say that with Lloyds, even if they provide you with a final decision, with good reasoning, they do often overturn final decisions. So no worries, we will work on that when the letter reaches you ;-)

                    Hi Di.

I appealed the letter and that was sent off two weeks ago.

This claim is currently on week 10.

They said to me it's being re-assessed and can not give me a time scale as they did not want to give me false expectations.

Is it worth going to the FOS? Surely with all the back logs it won't get looked at anyway ...?

                    Your help is greatly appreciated

                      Hiya
Thanks for getting back to me.

The only thing here is once you start your complaint with the FOS it is logged on systems and the bank will be made aware of it in first instance to what I know of (even if your complaint is waiting in a queue and not being dealt with right away).
So the bank may not longer deal with your direct but with the FOS only. Unless someone here knows any different and post up with other views on this ;-)

Maybe you could give your own timescale, say if you've not heard anything further within the following month, then move on to the FOS.

What you could try doing is contacting your local MP, ask him/her to write to the bank to chase it up if you've not heard anything in he next fortnight, maybe they will act quicker on your complaint ;-)

Hope you hear some good news soon, good luck x
