Can I have details about the Motorhome. Make, model etc.

Also if possible the eBay Item Number.

And most important : The exact date and time of your first email enquiry.

Thanks for the detail, that was helpful. Sadly I cannot be helpful in return - I have a better understanding of what happened now. It looks as if you saw the Sprinter on Gumtree and when you made contact the fraudsters sent you a link to an eBay listing that didn't really exist; it was created for you and wasn't actually an eBay listing at all. I am sure you know all this by now.

I had hoped that it was originally discovered (by you) on eBay, because I have just done a search through recent archives (i.e. Sept 2014 and the first few days of Oct) and I found about half-a-dozen Merc Sprinter scams, scams that were found/reported/deleted. None of these have any connection with your case unfortunately.

I used to do a bit of scambusting on Gumtree but now it is absolutely impossible due to the sheer volume of fraudulent listings on eBay. The irony is that I am probably instrumental in creating (or influencing) the increase, because the overwhelming majority of scam attempts fail as they are shut down in a few hours. The almost understandable reaction from the fraudsters is simply to do more and more, with few generating any returns but this is their way of life and the business they have chosen - theft, fraud, money laundering.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

when a financial institution is a victim of fraud the police are all over like a rash, when members of the public are conned via a bank the police and the bank are not interested, maybe when there is say 10,000 victims of online car ad fraud then maybe the banks might just react!!. In this age of vitual/online shopping the companys providing this service MUST DO MORE TO KEEP USERS/BUYERS SAFE , here is a news story that justifies why banks need to up there game against fraudsters:

Man arrested over cyber cash machine plot

A man has been arrested on suspicion of masterminding a £1.6m cyber raid on cash machines.
A 37-year-old man is being questioned in Portsmouth for allegedly being part of an "organised gang" that loaded malware in to the dispensers.
Detectives believe machines in Brighton, London, Liverpool, Blackpool, Doncaster and Sheffield were targeted.
An address in Edmonton, north London, is also being searched as part of the operation.
'Infected with virus' Det Insp Dave Strange said: "We believe this is an organised crime gang systematically infecting and then clearing cash machines across the UK using specially created malware."
Police allege the cash machines were physically broken into and infected with a virus before large amounts of cash were withdrawn.
It is thought 51 machines were hit over the May Bank Holiday by criminals gaining access to the computer inside the devices and uploading a virus.
Once the malware was activated the machine could be told to dispense large amounts of cash, in some cases until it was drained of money.
Detectives believe the malware subsequently deleted itself, making it difficult to identify the cause of the attacks.
Customer data was not compromised, police said.
The man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud.

wonder why we did not see this in the news when it happened ??

Item numbers don't match but here's what I guess is a similar vehicle

This one was posted on eBay by scammers on 05-Oct-14 at 02:27 (i.e. middle of the night) and I reported it at 04:50. I probably reported it to The Kraken as well. It was removed between 09:00 and 10:30 that same morning.

Just seen hymer classic c514 advertised on caravansforsale at £6200. Sent an initial email asking for details (dimensions etc). Received one back saying he was away working in Perth, Scotland and would pay for shipping etc for a fast sale. I bet he would. Thank goodness I looked on here first. I've emailed the website to let them know.
