  • Pension credit at state pension age

I reached state pension age in July and a private pension i have had for a while increased enough to make my wife who had been receiving pension credit for a few years inelegible.
She received a letter from dwp on my state pension date saying they would be phoning or sending a review form.
When this had not arrvied 4 weeks later she phoned, and told them she was no longer elegible .
3 days letter she received a letter saying they had noted i had a private pension asking for all details of it.
As she told them about it and indeed was not claiming and neither am i, why do they need any details given that pension credit will not now be paid.
