        Dear Bill-k

thank you for that info i have checked them out before but i need help assessing my entitlement as i could be entitled to esa or dla but also need help with filling out forms due to illness causing concentration and memory problems

        Dear Puffrose

Thanks for reminding me i am afraid i cant afford the £10 min fee to get bank statements. I will go through all my papers i have kept and hope i find something like an old bank statement, water bills or letters i may find something as i keep everything

i went to citizens advice this morning i was 2nd in que so was seen very quickly
I only had 10 minutes to talk about 2 problems so i have been given one appointment in 1 weeks time for urgent water bill problem and another in three weeks time for a benefit check and i will have 1 hour appointment so i feel a bit better now

              Dear Bill-k

Thanks for encouragement, i need it
i have got a very little known illness, by GPs anyway but i have had it for 30 years and was only propely accepted and reconised by the medical profession 10 or so years ago. It has got worse over the last 7 years and the worst thing is it effects my concentration and memory to the extent that it effects my day to day life so it is such an effort for me to sort anything out. I am educating my GP about my illness but have to jump through so many hoops first to get to see a specialist in london but i will get there in the end

Sorry to off load i do appreciate all your help which helps so much

Do it anyway, Bambi, and see how far back you can go. It will cost you nowt to find out.

There are a load of illnesses that seem to have been 'discovered' over recent years, but GP's just don't seem to have kept up the necessary reading on these. They seem to just prefer to rest on their laurels, and continue to consider themselves as 'doctors,' when in fact all they are are 'graduates' from a certain year of learning. They then appear to have ceased any further learning after that. Indeed - why should they strive any further ? An incentive is needed, IMHO. A stick and carrot, or a riding crop - whatevva...

                  Bambi,

my "brother" Matt has a medical condition called Post Traumatic Amnesia. Its caused by trauma to the brain and is a form of brain damage (I think if im right Richard Hammond has it too), his memory is that bad he has been known to wander round the kitchen with a spoon in his hand muttering Doing? doing? doing?

What he has found, and hopefully it can help you, is that through playing his neices DS his memory is getting a lot better, he got one for xmas, and got Dr Shirovas brain training and he is making huge improvements.. at least now he can remember he is making his husband a coffee!!

Bambi I am an idiot and I apologise for being one, I have just spoken to my bank and they have said that if you call your bank up, and ask for a list of payments to the water board, they will give you it verbally there and then dates amounts etc and it is a free of charge service as they are not sending you anything, it is only if they post you it its chargeable.

Also if you speak with your bank regarding your medical condition they have to by law do everything in their power to make banking easier for you!

Sorry for not thinking of this before.. im an IDIOT!!!

                      Dear Puffrose

NO you are not an idiot, cirtainly not, i am just grateful you are thinking about how you can help me
I will go to the bank asap. i always thought that i had to pay for any information that the money grabbing banks had to get for me.

My heart goes out to your brother, i am glad he has found something that helps him

My condition is called Ekbom Syndrome, more commonly known as Restless Legs Syndrome - www.rls-uk.ork
I can remember having it as i child in its milder form thought it was normal
I can get it during the day but it always starts at night about 6 pm as a result it effects your sleep
I sleep around 2-3 hours over a 24hr period usually in short naps on the sofa I had a test and had to wear a contraption to see if i had sleep apnoea and it showed amongst other things that i got up 15 times in an 11 hour period
I am due to see a Neurologist next week, one of many hoops i have to jump through before they will send me to a specialist in London. In the meantime i suffer from sleep deprivation. Now i know what its like when solders get captured and sleep depravation is used as a method of torture

sorry to get so dark and if this is too much info if anybody is only mildly interested i just cant stop

Ok bambi.. your going to be very very happy hun as not only can she help you.. you possibly have the ingredients to her remedy in your store cupboard!!

Restless leg can cause bad circulation according to "mum" so she says you need some mint and sage in a muslin bag and used as a bath infusion. Also.. and this apparently helps fibromayalgia

Get your self some thick rubber gloves and get a good bagful of stinging nettles (yes common boring annoying stinging nettles) take the leaves off and give them a through wash, then place them in boiling water and leave to steep (bout the same time as a strong cup of tea) and drink like you would tea. She also advises changing from normal typhoo to chammomile tea for the last 3 cups at night, and get a small muslin bag, put in to it some lavender and rosemary, and place this under you pillow at night.

Another remedy she has for sleeplessness is to make a posset. its a good old fashioned cure, you take milk, warm it gently, then add black treacle, some cinnamon, nutmeg and a some fresh cream.. and drink hot. She said it made her son sleep like a baby 3 days after his fiancee was killed in a road accident.

"mum" is my ex mother in law and shes scots but lives in rural canada.. but its all good.. the man i class as my brother is Australian so technically i have an english mum, a canadian mum and an aussie one!

i will get all the ingedients this weekend and try them one by one and see which one works best
if i have a natural remedy that works with no nasty sideffects my life will be so much better
i will be so pleased to tell all those doctors that i have got something that works
instead of taking their prescribed addictive drugs
if only one works i will put it on RLS website to help others
i will let you know how i get on
