Default Cap 1 request for wage slip and bank statement

Hello there, can anyone advise me please?

I have informed my credit card companies that I am in difficulties, sent an IE, offered and made an initial token payment.
Capital One have responded asking me to supply a wage slip and a bank statement from the last 3 months to show receipt of income and expenses.

Am I obliged to provide them with this information?

You are not obliged to supply them with it at all. However, if you don't they are far less likely to accept your offer.

What they're doing is asking you to supply proof that your IE sent is true and that you don't earn a fortune and have millions in the bank. All perfectly reasonable in my opinion, but as I said, if you feel strongly about it, no you don't have to provide them with it.

Thanks for responding so quickly Caspar, but wont this give them my account and employer details ?

By the way, I wish I did have loads stashed away but unfortunately I haven't

Unfortunately my recent wage slips have had overtime included and this would give an un sustainable income

Photocoy them, remove personal details other than name and point out to them that the overtime payments must not be included as income as it only happens occasionally. Write down the income without the overtime so they can see the basic wage you put on your IE sheet. They're just checking what you said is true I think, so I would not be too worried, but you're absolutely right that you should give them only what they need and no more, thus it is essential to remove employer details etc...
