  • Cento/ Lifestyle Claims

Hi all, well I am here to ask for help big time.

These Cowboys at Cento contacted me out of the blue in Nov 2009. They promised the earth, they could zero credit cards etc. We had a LOT going on in out lives and thought it was worth having a go so we paid £200 for unlimited claims.

We sent off the paperwork, and in Feb 2010, we got a call back saying if we paid a % of our credit cards we would get PRIORITY SERVICE.

They took over £3000 from my credit cards!

I heard nothing from them for months at a time, apart from letters asking for a £1 and a £10 cheque. They had 8 of these so theres £88 gone. Again heard NOTHING for months, and I had to constantly chase them.

On the first phone call they claimed it could take up to 6 months. After 6 months they claimed it could take up to 12 months. And after 12 months they said it could take 18 months or LONGER.

Eventually after 15 months, and most claims coming back as nothing, they got £147 on my Wifes credit card. They say they take 30% of all claims won, and to my surprise, they took £57, which to me is more than 30% of the claim. They claimed it is 30% PLUS VAT.

They have taken the £57 off the £3050 they took from my credit cards, and are now returning my money but said I have to wait 30 days!.

Contacted MOJ, they said you should've read your contract etc, completely USELESS Government Department who does nothing to protect the public from Companies like this.

Overall, I am out of pocket the interest on £3000 for 116 months, plus £88 for cheques, and they recovered £90 for me by the time they took their 30% plus VAT.

If they get 1000 to do as I did, they have £3000,000 sitting in a bank gathering interest for a year before they return it to you!

If no one has any advice, then at the end of the day, please just HEED my WARNING. STAY CLEAR.

    Hi Bexsham1

Thanks for sharing your experience and warning of the dodgy practices of yet another claims management company.

A bit late for you I know, but anyone considering accepting the 'services' of these sharks should read your post and reconsider.

      Hi Bexsham

I have numetrous threads on Cento and there other company names as well as many have posted their woes on here to last a life time. I have been giving warnings that if anyone was contemplating using them that they should always do their homewaork first and check them out, unfirtunately and before you ever give someone, anyone your credit card number from a cold call always do some research first. What sounds good too good to be true never turns out that way.

I am pretty sure you will not be the last one to post up, but what I am concerned about is that some peeps have been saying that there is no response from their telephone number. Having tried to check it on the web I can only find a website now for Lifestyle claims.

Did you agree for them to take £3k from your C/C or did they take it without your permission. If this is the case have you called your C/C card company and report this to them.

As far as the MOJ goes this is another government body that is earning from Claims Management Company's so I guess there hands are tied. Although some have had their authorisations cancelled and or suspended.

I hope that they keep there workd and refund you - and hope that you will let us know when they do. If for any reason you do not receive the money back within 30 days please also let us know.

        Re: Cento/ Lifestyle Claims

Following my conversation today with the production company they have asked me to find someone who has used a Claims Management Company where they have been asked to pay upfront fees, then have been asked to pay further fees to continue with their claim which has then put them in a vunerable situation pushing them into a hardship situation. Can you please urgently PM me if this has happened to you and you would be prepared to take part.

Cowboys and there are warnings about them and their kind all over the media. It's worth reporting them to the OFT.
