  • Thames Water

Full payment of an outstanding amount was made to Thames water regarding a water bill. They have instructed a debt collector to contact me. I have paid all outstanding debts and have a record of the account into which the money was paid.

Thames water claim not to have recieved one final payment. I have written to them with the details of the payments and highlighted the fact that the money had been cashed / withdrawn from my account into their designated bank (under their instruction to me) - my bank can prove this. The debt collector seems not to have been notified by Thames water and their solicitors.

They are still writing to me asking for payment.

Can you assist with the next course of action?

Thames Water are responsible for the actions of the DCa they have appointed. I'd contact Thames Water again and ask them to call off the DCA they have erroneously unleashed on you and confirm that they have done to you in writing.

If you're feeling really unpleasant you can then negotiate suitable compensation, though personally I rarely take this action - entirely up to you.
