  • What’s happened to Harrington’s Advisory???

Around a year ago I agreed to let Harringtons Advisory to investigate PPI possibly owed me saying that banks had only reimbursed a small percentage of amounts owed to customers.
During the early summer I telephoned them that I hadn’t heard anything about my claim. They said no, but suggested that I called my former bank.
I have now retrieved an amount, but Harrington’s Advisory have now disappeared from the face of the earth.
Does anyone know what I should do (who to contact etc) or should do nothing and keep all the money?

      Hiya

It's not quite clear from your post if it was Harringtons or yourself who made the claim to your bank. Did you sign a contract and a letter of authority with Harringtons for the claim?

If you did or even think you might have I would keep the 39% + VAT aside in case you have to pay it. Although Harringtons have had their claims management license cancelled by the regulator you would still have to pay them the money if you owe it to them. Although the company still appears to be trading according to Companies House even if they went into administration, any money owed would be still be owed to the adminstrators. It's also possible that Harringtons could sell their accounts/debts to another company.

I wouldn't contact them myself (I'm not even sure you can as their website is now offline) but I'd keep the 39% + VAT just in case they contact you.

Well, they are at it again, just been sent a debt collection letter stating "DO NOT IGNORE - ACT NOW" they are threatening with bailiff Andrew Wilson High Court Enforcement & Co.

As per their usual dodgy practices, letter dated 11/4/19, received 25/4/19 with the usual ultimatums and Bully tactics. No mention of the Harrington's Advisory Limited or any official registration numbers, again typical dodgy.

They want to come to a resolution in 7 days, well missed that one! I have been arguing with these people for nearly 2 years and still they harass and bully.

I know for a fact my details have been passed on to other companies and look forward to my day in court. Not a penny shall they get.

Check them out on companies house, everything is out of date.

If anyone has been sued by them please let me know?

              Thanks

Interestingly directors Mohammed Masum and Ibrar Akbar, who are both shareholders, have resigned as of 1 May 2019 leaving a non shareholding director in place. Considering the accounts are excessively overdue, hopefully this bunch of muppets will be gone very soon. They are trying last attempts at collecting any money by bullying and harassment. Regardless of arguments that no compensation was ever received. We are very close to reporting them to the police if they contact again.

Shame that DINO250 was taken to court and had to pay, you could see if you can find out where the money actually went as I suspect that it has been diverted to avoid tax and VAT.

What is the court claim for? Is it for unpaid commission?

Hi Amethyst, yes it is commission but more interestingly the company has a winding up petition against it. What is even more interesting is that the claimants name on the County court claim form is "Harringtons Advisory T/A Harringtons Advisory Limited" strangely the wrong way round! Perhaps a scare tactic to get people to write cheques out for the summons and then it can be banked under Harringtons Advisory not the limited company.
I would suggest to anyone reading this defend the summons. However would be interested in any advice on the legality of the summons considering the claimants name is swapped around?

                        Hi Everyone

We can all breath a sigh of relief that Harringtons Advisory Limited is now in liquidation.

They tried a county court claim against my friend which we defended and they didn't complete the next stage paperwork, the claim will have been struck out by now.

If you have been sued by them and have paid them watch out that the payment has been logged with the court to prevent a ccj, It would also be a good idea to get in touch with the insolvency practitioners to advise where the money went as it has been alleged that the money has gone to other companies. The phone number 01616677088 is still active stating that it is Harringtons!

It amazes me that this company that fails at every point to file accounts and obey the law seem to evade any kind of justice. The key directors resigned back in May, perhaps to avoid any prosecution, so lets hope the insolvency people see through this and make them account for their actions.

                        Happy days!

They were one of the worst CMCs out there. Well done to your friend standing up to them and defending.

Check with the court - if a claimant fails to respond to the court following a defence the claim is stayed ( put on hold ) not automatically struck out. It is unlikely that the liquidators will be applying to lift the stay and carry on with the claim but its best to be aware it could be a possibility.

If the defence had asked the court to use their powers to strike or the directions questionnaire wasn't returned , and the claim was struck then an order should have been received informing both parties.
