  • Total parking solutions and IE Solicitors

I alledgedly overstayed in Jempsons car park in Rye back in May for which I received a demand from TPS. They claim I exceeded the maximum time allowed although in their first demand they didn't specify a time limit. In the 2nd they claim the maximum time is 15 mins and again in their final demand. I checked with the store and it's actually 2hrs. Following advice from numerous online sites I ignored their demands and have now received a notice of impending legal action from IE Solicitors. The original "fine" was £35, they now want £120 by 28 Nov or they WILL take further action which "could include legal proceedings through the county court which would incur significant additional costs which may be recoverable from you".

TPS have issued about 100k demands in the past 3yrs and only taken 5 cases to court but I'm concerned about the new legislation and how this affects me. Should I continue to ignore their letters? What happens if it goes to court, how much could I be liable for? Do they have a case seeing as they state the maximum time is 15mins when in fact it's 2hrs? Do I have any recourse seeing as I've ignored them?

    Thanks.

Re: Total parking solutions and IE Solicitors

I called him today, he said he could cancel the ticket if I emailed a copy of the initial demand. I was rather skeptical but I did as requested and asked for written confirmation by return email of what he said. So far no reply...

          Sounds promising.

It's early days for a reply...keep an eye on it & give them a nudge if you haven't heard anything by the end of the week.
