  • Brothers Ex Wife has run off with children, children need help. No idea where to turn

    Ok to be brief.
Brother has not seen his 2 sons for 3 years due to ex wifes lies and accusations. Yesterday apparently her new partner (who has a record and drug issues) either attacked her or tried to rape her (not sure how true as she is a bad liar)
Anyway, she stayed with her family over night and this morning she dragged the boys away (crying!!) to Norwich to start a new life.
We know her partner has beat the kids, prob her too, he has also been known to sexually abuse in his past. (he has been in the papers because of it!!!!!!) The 9 year old is petrified as he gets told off about everything while at home, has told his nana that he looks after the younger one as well as a baby (not by my brother), he is scared to talk about his own mother and is very anxious. Basically the children were in a toxic house. The mother claims to need a carer for her depression and she liars badly (even her own mum admits this and her whole family are on our side)

Both my family and hers think she will get back with this man. If she does or does not. What can my brother do? We now have no address at all. Even her family dont know where they went. The kids need to be out of that situation like NOW!

If she has left for a new life in a different city maybe she will be safe. I have to say this does seem a little bit of too little too late- You say you knew about sexual abuse convictions and violence in the home- why the hell weren't social services involved then

I am sure at some point she will be in touch- then get SS involved to do a risk assessment

can you not ask social services to get involved now??

We did know about the allegations, have told SS a bunch of times. They visited, spoke to them and brushed it under the carpet.

Even though she has "Moved away" we dont think its for her "safety". We think its so they can live elsewhere as they were about to get evicted and they want a fresh start. She believes she will get a house if she tells people she is fleeing a bad relationship and then when she has a home, call him to come live with them.
She lies a lot and we are unsure how much of what happened yesterday is true. She has even lied straight to me about me!!!!!!!

I am hoping if the police have level heads, they would put it in their report about the boys. They only allowed her sisters to take them away from the house so they must have had some concerns.
Hoping my email to SS to advice them of my concerns will help. My brother is too angry and upset right now

If she gets evicted she would get emergency accommodation anyway because of the children.

If she moves saying she is fleeing an abusive relationship that us not a walk in the park and she could end up in a hostel.

It is difficult to advise or offer opinion particularly when emotions are running high. It must be distressing for your brother not to see his children. Has he tried legal routes to gain access or parental rights?

I am sure social workers are acting in good faith on the I for they have, always difficult when accusations are second third or 4th hand. If the boys won't say what is happening and there a no signs they are at risk they have a problem. Sometimes it is better to have an imperfect situation than rip a family apart.

You have reported your concerns to SS, not sure what else you can do.
