Security Guard: Health an Safety concerns??

I am a mobile security guard (Lone worker: Days: 12 hr shifts) and am wondering whether my health and safety concerns take precedence over the company's.

Background: I have recently been asked to attend a site to ensure it is secure and the internal of the building is in good condition (have been told there was a water leak before it got disconnected), however, there are currently roadworks outside the building meaning i would have to cross them to get to the buildings front doors. i have been refusing to cross the site as the walk would take me over uneven areas, near holes and onto insecure paving, can they discipline me for not crossing since they have gotten permission from the contractor to allow our guards to cross it.

You need to ask the co.pany to get your healthh and safety rep to look at the site.

that would be ok for that day but with it being an active site and patrols being every 3 days a lot can change do i have the right to refuse those times. for example if a hole is dug near the route they state we should take is it my call whether to go in or not.

all i need to know is where my safety concerns are superseded by the company's requests.
