    Hi can any one give me any information on this problem,
    I lent my tools to a freind who had them in the back of his van,unfortunatly the van was stolen,
    the tools never had a separate insurance on them although they were worth £3000 his insurance only cover the van?
    can i claim against hes insurance company? or any other ideas? or have i had it!!!!

    If they were not insured no claim have you checked with him if they were?

      You can only claim against your friend!
      He was responsible for the tools, and so if you can show he was negligent he would be liable for their loss.
      For example if he had left them in the van overnight, or if the van had been left insecure, you might have an argument.
      He might then be able to make a claim on a public liability policy, if he has one.
      If he has household insurance there might be a liability section with it.
